ArcelorMittal is the world’s largest mining and steel company, with a presence in 60 countries and an industrial footprint in 18 countries. Its facilities include the Dofasco steelmaking complex in Hamilton, Ontario. The world’s number one steelmaker also includes ArcelorMittal Mining Canada and ArcelorMittal Infrastructure Canada, two complementary companies operating in Québec’s North Shore region. In May, the Indian industrialist and CEO of the company, Lakshimi N. Mittal, received the Gary Memorial Medal from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) in recognition of his accomplishments in the iron and steel industry. The Mittal family has been in the metal business for at least two generations.
