Premier Tech, an innovative family business based in Rivière-du-Loup, will create 500 new jobs in Quebec within 5 years!

Premier Tech aims to make a difference on the planet by helping to protect it and nourish the people who live there. This almost 100-year-old family business creates sustainable products, technologies, and solutions to cultivate healthy gardens, promote crop yields, help efficient manufacturing facilities, and facilitate water treatment and recycling. The involvement of the Bélanger family began in 1963, when Bernard Bélanger acquired Tourbières du Saint-Laurent, a plant that was then owned by an American family business founded in 1923. Very quickly, Bernard Bélanger developed the company by making several acquisitions in Western Canada and by setting up a research center to develop equipment. This strategy focused on growth through acquisitions and on research and development increased with the arrival of his son, Jean Bélanger, at the helm of the company in 1999. Today, Premier Tech, with sales of nearly $ 1 billion, has 4,500 employees, 47 factories and 13 brands in 27 countries. Recently, the family business announced that it will create 500 jobs in Québec within 5 years by investing $ 251.2M-including $ 45M from a loan from the Quebec government-in its facilities in Bas-Saint-Laurent. These investments will enable it to accelerate its digital transformation and support its research and development laboratories.
