Quebec Balsams Export Inc., a family business from the Eastern Townships, exports its Christmas trees to Asia!

The family SME Quebec Balsams Export was founded in 1955 by Normand Couture and built thanks to the strong business links and friendships developed in its community in Courcelles, in the Eastern Townships. Gerald Couture, the founder’s only son, inherited the family business in 1985 and first adopted healthier growing practices for soil conservation. Faced with increasingly important competition in the American market, he then turned to exotic markets, to say the least! In addition to being exported to 15 American states and some Canadian provinces, the fir trees grown on the land of the Quebec family business are now exported to South America, Central America, the Caribbean and even Asia. Quebec Balsams Export has experienced significant growth in recent years. For example, the company occupied more than 70% of the market in Panama last year. All in all, more than 100,000 natural trees are sold each year: enough to brighten up Christmas celebrations around the world!
