The family-owned media company Leclerc Communication has just launched a new radio station in Montreal!

The family business Leclerc Communication is launching the popular radio station WKND 99.5 in the Greater Montreal area this month. Founded in 2011 by brothers Jean-François and Nicolas Leclerc and their father Jacques Leclerc, the company already owns BLV 102.1 and WKND 91.9 stations in Quebec City. Building on its success in the Capitale-Nationale region, the Leclerc family is breaking through the important Montreal radio market, which is welcoming for the first time in 43 years a new popular French-language station. Leclerc Communication was able to convince the CRTC to grant it the right to convert the Radio-Classique station, recently acquired, into a popular station. By playing more emerging music and developing close contact with its audience, the independent family business wants to do things differently in a market that has long been controlled by a duopoly. For its new station, Leclerc Communication has assembled a team cleverly made up of experienced hosts such as Gregory Charles, Anne-Marie Withenshaw and Mélanie Ménard, and lesser-known hosts who will all be able to redefine radio standards.
